EARLALL joins STEMMING Green Innovation project to strengthen Europe’s green, digital and deep-tech skills ecosystem

09/07/2026

We are delighted to announce that the EIT Higher Education Initiative has awarded STEMMING Green Innovation – Agentic AI and Quantum-Secure STEM Talent for Smart Solar Europe funding as part of their Call for Proposals 2025.

STEMMING is among the 35 innovative projects selected under the 2025 EIT Higher Education Initiative, following a major €70 million investment by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) to strengthen innovation capacity in higher education, foster entrepreneurship and deepen collaboration between universities, businesses, research organisations and public authorities across Europe.

Running from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2028, STEMMING will contribute to this ambition by helping universities prepare the next generation of innovators with the skills needed to address Europe’s green and digital transformation. The project brings together higher education institutions, industry partners, research actors and regional organisations to develop new learning pathways around artificial intelligence, smart solar energy, quantum technologies and cybersecurity.

STEMMING responds to a growing challenge: while Europe is accelerating towards cleaner energy systems and advanced digital technologies, education and training systems must continue evolving to ensure learners have the competences required for emerging careers. The project will support universities in modernising their approaches through innovative teaching methods, digital learning environments, practical laboratories and stronger connections with industry.

At the heart of STEMMING are new learning ecosystems designed to help students move from knowledge to application. Through AI-supported learning tools, digital laboratories and hands-on innovation activities, learners will explore real-world challenges related to sustainable energy, artificial intelligence and quantum-secure technologies. The project will also strengthen entrepreneurial capabilities, supporting students in transforming ideas into solutions, products and new ventures.

As a partner in STEMMING, EARLALL will contribute its expertise in lifelong learning, regional skills ecosystems and inclusive innovation. EARLALL will co-lead activities on Diversity, Inclusion and Regional Hubs, ensuring that the project’s opportunities reach diverse learners and regions across Europe.

EARLALL will support the mobilisation of regional ecosystems by connecting universities with local and regional authorities, strengthening policy dialogue and promoting alignment with regional innovation priorities and Smart Specialisation Strategies. Through its European network, EARLALL will help ensure that STEMMING’s outcomes can be translated into sustainable approaches for skills development, inclusion and regional growth.

The project will also contribute to the wider objectives of the EIT Higher Education Initiative by supporting collaboration between education, research, industry and society. The initiative aims to strengthen Europe’s innovation ecosystem and equip hundreds of thousands of STEM students, academics and staff with innovation, entrepreneurship and technology-transfer skills by 2028.

Together with its consortium partners, EARLALL is committed to building a future-oriented skills ecosystem where universities, companies, regions and learners collaborate to shape Europe’s next generation of green and digital innovators.
