EARLALL Academy #9: Environmental sustainability of lifelong learning providers

25/04/2024

On April 25 2024, the EARLALL Academy organised its 9th webinar answering the question “How can lifelong learning providers transform their environmental sustainability?”. The Masterclass was part of the EARLALL Academy, a capacity-building webinar series designed for EARLALL’s webinars in the context of the European Year of Skills.

The webinar was hosted by Erdem Vardar, the Founding Director of YUVA. YUVA is an NGO founded in 2010 and active in developmental issues such as climate change, social participation and inclusive education. (www.yuva.ngo ). Erdem discussed how ALE institutions can assess their sustainability through  SMALEI – Sustainability Matrix for Adult Education Institutions.

SMALEI is an Erasmus+ project that seeks to build a self-assessment tool for adult education providers to be able to assess how they are performing in relation to five areas: green skills of trainers and staff; environmental sustainability; partnerships for sustainability;  engagement of learners and awareness-raising and involvement of people. Erdem outlined how adult learning institutions will be able to use the tool in an online form and encouraged participants to join the Green Adult Learning and Education LinkedIn group to stay in the loop of dialogue on the subject.
