On March 12, Barcelona hosted the 3rd International Seminar on Mobility and Cooperation Projects, organized by the Catalan Department of Education and VET (EARLALL member). The event brought together Catalan teachers and 38 foreign participants from 12 countries, focusing on inclusivity in mobility, international cooperation, and innovation in VET exchanges. EARLALL was invited to participate in the closing roundtable discussion, “Inclusion in Action: Best Practices and Challenges in Erasmus+ Projects,” where we shared data and insights on inclusion in Erasmus+, highlighting key projects.
Ricard Coma Montoro (Departament d’Educació i Formació Professional) opened the event, emphasizing the need to improve mobility experiences for students and trainers. He highlighted internationalisation as a key tool for inclusion, diversity, and sustainability, stressing the importance of ensuring mobility opportunities for all, regardless of socio-economic background or educational barriers.
Tanja Halttunen (Axxel Utbildning Ab, Finland) discussed the future of international mobility in VET, pointing out the challenge of securing funding despite increased student interest. She underscored the importance of staff mobility for teacher development and its role in promoting international learning experiences.
Iraklis Pliakis (Cedefop) provided insights into VET policy development in Europe, focusing on micro-credentials and their role in lifelong learning. He stressed the need for quality assurance and recognition of micro-credentials to enhance their credibility and impact.
Parallel sessions covered topics such as the role of Europass in Erasmus+ and Companies engagement in VET System.
EARLALL’s Contribution: Promoting Inclusive Mobility
EARLALL opened the roundtable on inclusion in Erasmus+ projects. EARLALL reaffirmed its dedication to inclusive education and lifelong learning.
“Regions like Catalonia are crucial in promoting inclusion and ensuring equal opportunities in mobility. At EARLALL, we have long advocated for policies that support diverse learners, including those facing socio-economic challenges and disabilities.”
EARLALL showcased projects from its network, like SALAM and NEETS for NEETS, and mentioned that EARLALL members such as Centre-Val de Loire in France, Baden-Württemberg in Germany and the City of Borås in Sweden are implementing strategic initiatives that create inclusive learning and employment pathways.
The roundtable featured first-hand experiences from Erasmus+ projects focused on student inclusion, mental health in VET, and accessibility for learners with disabilities.
The seminar reinforced the importance of international cooperation in strengthening VET, with a collective commitment to breaking down barriers and expanding mobility opportunities. EARLALL was pleased to participate, reaffirming its role in advocating for inclusive and accessible lifelong learning policies across Europe.
